LEARNING SERIES #11: What is Bitcoin halving?
Every four years, the amount of bitcoin awarded to miners is reduced by half, until all 21 million bitcoin have been virtually mined (probably around the year 2140). The halving mechanism helps make bitcoin a scarce, inflation-resistant resource.

CRYPTO: Only 2 million bitcoin left in existence
Bitcoin has been designed in a way that its circulation stays fixed and supply decreases over time. Nearly 13 years after it was found, 19 million Bitcoins have already been mined. However, the remaining 2 million will take more than a century to be found. This is because of the halving that happens every 4 years, which reduces the mining rewards by half and decreases the new supply.
